Kuala Lumpur is the perfect launch point for a road trip. Three routes stand out for a long weekend - each rewards a different kind of car.
1. KL To Cameron Highlands (200 km)
Head north on the PLUS Expressway, exit at Simpang Pulai, then climb the switchbacks up to Brinchang. Tea plantations, strawberry farms, and cool mountain air at the top.
Recommended car: a torquey SUV or a Porsche Cayenne. The climb rewards mid-range pull more than top-end speed.
2. KL To The East Coast (Kuantan, 250 km)
The Karak and East Coast Expressway drops you into Kuantan in under four hours. From there, hug the coast to Cherating for surf breaks and quiet resorts.
Recommended car: a Mercedes E-Class or S-Class for the long straights. Cabin comfort matters more than corner speed on this one.
3. KL To Melaka (150 km)
The shortest of the three and the easiest weekend escape. Two hours south on the PLUS to a UNESCO World Heritage city with Peranakan food, red-brick colonial ruins, and a walkable old town.
Recommended car: anything from the sports fleet. Melaka is where our clients most often take a Lamborghini or Ferrari out for photos along the coastal road.
